Press Releases : NEW RIDEM SEPTIC SYSTEM RULES EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008
Posted Jan. 4, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
By Cecile Brown, SGE Global Project Coordinator

January 2008 - As a new year begins, Northeast Engineers & Consultants, Inc. would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has issued new regulations for septic systems which took effect on January 1st, 2008.

Rhode Island D.E.M.

Permitting activities are divided into three main stages: site-suitability, design review, and construction inspection.

The revised rules make comprehensive changes to the technical standards for siting and design of septic systems and review of subdivision suitability applications and variances, improve treatment where needed to protect public health and the environment, and increase protection standards for the South Shore Salt Ponds Critical Resource Area and the Narrow River Critical Resource Area.

In 2007, NE&C successfully designed and witnessed the installation of over 50 septic systems, for both commercial and residential properties. Our engineers have extensive experience with local regulations and permitting.

If you have any questions, would like more information regarding the new regulations or have a client in need of design services for their septic system, please contact our ISDS group at 401.849.0810 x1102 or at info@northeastengineers.com. NE&C also offers a wide range of other services to homeowners including land survey and structural engineering.
