The former Navy carrier pier at Quonset Point required inspection analysis to determine if it could be brought back into service for large deep draft vessels. NE&C conducted extensive structural analysis and load bearing capacity determinations to arrive at a repair plan and budget which would allow the pier to support present day operations. NE&C completed a batheometric survey of the approach channels to determine if vessels approaching 40 foot draft could safely berth at the facility.

Extensive subsurface exploration and rock coring was conducted. New piles, fendering, and mooring tackle was designed to augment the aging pier to meet present needs. Dredging was planned and permitted for the present project.
